How can someone find a surrogate mother?

I'm unable to carry a child but would like to find a surrogate mother who can be implanted with a fertilized egg(mine) and sperm. Where can I find such a woman? How can someone find a surrogate mother?
this depends on your methods and how much your willing to invest. I do not suggest craigslist; simply because it's harder to find serious individuals who have already thought though the idea of surrogacy and made an informed decision to become a surrogate; which can cause trouble later. It's best to use a forum dedicated to surrogacy or similar practices.

before I go any further though you should check if your state recognizes gestational surrogacy. Many states it's unclear, some refuse to recognize contracts (ie you can still do it; but if the surrogate choses to keep the child the state won't force them to surrender it to you) and some explicitly forbid it. Here is a convent link to figuring out your state policy http://www.surrogacy.com/legals/map.html

If your willing to pay a little extra there are blurrinesses who's sole responsibility is finding surrogates, ensuring they are physically healthy and capable of being surrogates, and arranging the legal aspects of surrogacy. These agencies will obviously cost more, but they remove some of the headache and potential issues that can come up with surrogacy. A quick Google search suggests these sites (I haven't used them so I can't endorse any of them)

If cost is a concern you can arrange surrogacy on your own. You will have to do some through research on your own state law (and the state of the surrogate if different then yours) to ensure you create a contract that is legally binding. Alternatively you might use a lawyer to arrange the contract but find the surrogate on your own; which is still cheaper then using an agency. There are forums/sites dedicated to this also; which I also have not used and can't actively endorse.

and finally there is one site I know about and so can actually suggest. It's not directly dedicated to surrogacy; but I know that some surrogate mothers are there; and I suspect if you post a polite request you will get links to other surrogacy forums from here. It's probably not your best resource; but it's the only one I can personally testify to...well other then the one I never intended to know about and decided not to link; I'm sure you could find surrogates there that are happy to not keep the kids, but I don't know if you would want to use the site :-P.

Good luck. and remember there is always adoption and fostering if surrogacy doesn't work out. I'm personally a very strong supporter of fostering, foster children are the ones most in need of a loving family; it feels wrong that so many ignore their plight. I would be fostering myself if they would accept a single male as a foster parent. ;)
The safest and surest way of finding a capable and trustworthy surrogate mother to carry your child would be to visit your local hospital or OB/GYN office, and speak with a medical professional. They most likely will have experience in the area, and will be able to point you in the right direction.

How exciting that you're hoping to become a mother! Good luck to you. :)How can someone find a surrogate mother?
Advertise on Craigslist. Impossible for anyone to know the outcome. Some have turned out well, others are a living nightmare!
