How women out there have been a surrogate mother?

My wife was talking with her best friend and suggested that she would be a surrogate mother for us. What were are wondering what are somethings that we need to know? Costs?(most insurance plans do not cover this) Legal issues? Physical, emotional and mental support? We had never considered looking or having someone be a surrogate for us. Please can someone help us, thanks. How women out there have been a surrogate mother?
Phobe did it for her brother and Kitty from that 70's show
The problem is the surrogate at the end get so emotional with the unborn, that might refuse to give it up.How women out there have been a surrogate mother?
It would be in your best interest to look elsewhere for a surrogate instead of one of your friends - that is just to close and personal and it could result in alot of emotional damage for all parties including the baby! I'm sure your friend is trying to look out for the interest of all-but it just won't work! Good luck-I hope you make the right decision!
Hard to say without getting to know all of you. There was a story on "A Baby Story" where a gay couple wanted a baby and so one of the men had a sister who was a surrogate. She expressed sadness at not being able to keep the baby, but that she was happy she could help her brother. The secret to their success was that they all lived close to each other and so there wasn't any real separation of the child from any of the parents.

If it came to legal blows, the father would have rights, but the mother would be an issue. Generally the baby belongs to whoever gave birth to it.
