Surrogate Mothers? Help

My wife was asked to be a surrogate mother. this is something she wants to do. We live in Ga. A doctor from the hospital she works at asked is she be interested in being a surrogant mother for his sister. His sister is a doctor also but she lives in NY

Is this legal? Can we be compensated for this? Will our health insurance cover for treatment as if it were a normal pregnancy?

Please leave any other helpful info if you have any. ThanksSurrogate Mothers? Help
The woman should compensate you financially, as well as cover all medical expenses. It is legal, much like an adoption, but speak with a lawyer before you make your final decision.

Also, do you have any children of your own? The psychological effects of carrying a child to term and then giving it up, (whether it be of your own, or someone else's embryo), can be very difficult for some women. Agencies that specialize in surrogacy often require that the birth mother already have children of their own, I suppose to help with attachment issues.

Best of luck!
usually the actual childs parents pay for everything. Surrogate Mothers? Help
Contact an attorney for advice. I think you can get some compensation.
It is legal, you can be compensated for it, and your health insurance will cover this if your wife is covered for pregnancy. Usually in surrogate mother situations, though, the people who want the baby pay for the expenses.
Usually with surrogacy, the mother is compensated and all of her medical expenses are covered. It is definitely legal. I would however work out the details with a lawyer just to be sure of no discrepencies.

Kudos to your wife. Sacrificing her body like that is a wonderful thing to do. It's the absolute act of giving. =)
