Do children ever take on traits from their surrogate mothers?

Does it matter if I choose a surrogate mother with brown hair, blonde hair, big eyes, green eyes?

Someone with diabetes in their family, someone with bipolar disorder?

Will it have any impact on my baby?Do children ever take on traits from their surrogate mothers?
I am currently a gestational surrogate, is that there are no traits from the "host" or surrogate. However, if the surrogate mother has a lot of trauma or emotional instability, the tension will affect the fetus, therefore causing emotional delay and instability.

A traditional surrogate, who uses her own eggs will be the biological mother, therefore passing on the genetics.

To be honest, I am not sure but I am certain that stress will greatly affect the fetus. I know first hand.

If you are using a surrogate, congrats. It is a very time consuming, expensive procedure and takes its toll on the surrogate.

If the child is genetically yours and your husbands(or boyfriend/sperm donor whatever he is to you) the surrogate mother will have little influence on the child. But I recently read in this months Psychology Today magazine that women who are obese or indulge in high fat cravings during pregnancy are most likely to have fat babies and that can contribute to obesity later in the child's life. It may seem far-fetched but I learned in my developmental psychology class that children often like foods that their mother craved while the child was in the womb. Hmm..must be why I love ice cream and pickles so much!

But to answer your question, whoever you choose to be the surrogate mother will have little impact on your child developing bipolar or diabetes or something.
There are several ways to test:

1) A simple urine test will give an indication for howhigh your blood sugar is.

2) They can do a resting blood sugar test to see how high your sugar is.

3) They can do a Hemoglobin A1C to see on average, how high your sugar has been.

Symptoms of diabetes include: Weight loss, irritability, sudden poor eyesight, insatiable thirst, leg cramps when you lay down, horrid pain in your kidneys, increased urination
Not if it's your egg.
