Do babies born to surrogate mothers develop any of the surrogate's traits?

I realize that a babies genetic information is developed from a mix of the DNA contained in the sperm and the egg. But if a baby is essentially 'incubated' inside a surrogate mother for nine months, where they share food, blood, etc, would that relationship determine any traits (mannerisms, features, appearances) in the baby?Do babies born to surrogate mothers develop any of the surrogate's traits?
Interesting question. I don't think so. The only thing I can think of is if the surrogate mom listened to a particular type of music throughout the pregnancy- the baby may show a preference for it later. (Even brand new babies show a preference for the songs they were sung in utero). Also, if mom ate particular foods, maybe the preference would be passed on (babies can taste changes in the amniotic fluid- if mom drinks something strange or bitter, a baby will show his or her displeasure on the ultrasound.) Or if a particular noise or situation or voice caused the surrogate stress- the baby might pick up on that.

As far as mannerisms and facial features go- no, I think that would be impossible unless the surrogate ate a very poor diet, abused drugs or drank heavily. Then the child may have defects or facial features (like Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) that could be blamed on the surrogate- but that's the only thing I can think of :)
I don't see how that would be possible. It isn't like they are being raised by the surrogate. They say the baby can recognize your voice when you are pregnant but it takes about a week after birth for him to recognize you after birth. As long as you are there from the time he comes out, he will start bonding with you right away.Do babies born to surrogate mothers develop any of the surrogate's traits?
