Surrogate mothers information?

My fiance and I have had 4 miscarriages and 2 false pregnancies! I really don't want to try again i cant handle it emotionally or physically its just to much pain. But we do want to have a baby that is "OUR OWN" we have talked adoption but we are thinking we want to do Surrogate ive read on it but would like to know more if anyone has ever been through this if they know how much it ends up costing and any good websites with info.. i really don't want any negative thoughts on it really i just cant handle criticism right now and its not what im looking for!

I am so sorry for your loss! As someone who has been through infertility, I highly recommend that you pick up the book Conquering Infertility by Dr. Alice Domar and consider joining a support group. Your doctor should be able to recommend someone. I ended up with a pretty serious case of depression after 6 unsuccessful IUI cycles and it really helped.



Surrogacy is VERY expensive - average is right around $100.000 - there are alot of costs associated - medical costs for the IVF cycle and meds to retrieve the eggs and fertilize them in the lab, lawyer costs for all the documentation, doctors appointments, compensation for the surrogate etc . . .



I completely sympathize with the pain that you are experiencing, but you need to know that surrogacy is NOT a guarantee. You still have the stress of wondering if the cycle worked or not, the wait to see if your surrogate tested positive . . . there are no guarantees that your surrogate will have a successful pregnancy, either.

I'm so sorry for everything that you are going through! I am a surrogate mother and my advise for you two would be do your research! There are many websites out there that can help you and there are also many that are out to get you. I would highly recommend that you go through an agency, yes these are expensive but agencies will help you cross all the T's and dot all the I's sort of speak. There is a lot of confusing things about surrogacy that I had NO idea of when I started out! Yahoo groups section has some great groups that support people in your shoes that can help you out with people that have been there.
