When becoming a surrogate mother why do they ask u for no government assistance?

Wouldn't that help with medical bills and food and that would be less money for them to spend. When becoming a surrogate mother why do they ask u for no government assistance?
It's generally advised to avoid a surrogate who is already on government assistance - is that what you're talking about? The main reason is to avoid creating (or adding to, depending whom you ask) the appearance that the surrogate is being exploited - the poor woman only giving up her body for the rich people offering her a hand out argument.

The other issue is that legitimately you *don't* want a surrogate whose main motivation is financial, because it's such a large commitment 24/7 for a large chunk of time. If it's only about the money, the surrogate is less likely to be worried about the health of the baby, or may end up regretting the choice later once the money has been spent.
Seems like everyone is preoccupie with determining who should be eligible to receive govt assistance; although that is not the answer to the question. The only appropriate answer correctly addressing the question is the "best answer".

No, because then you will have all kind of women trying to become surrogates just to get free money from the Government. Don't we have enough of that already, with the women who have 15 kids just so they can get more free money. That is exactly the reason why someone like me couldn't get help even if I wanted it. You can call me mean or inconsiderate, or anything else, but everyone knows it's true. It's because of people abusing the system that there isn't enough for people like me.
Yes it may help them as individuals financially, but then to get government assistance then the Tax Payers would be forking out for it. that hardly seems fair, there's enough taxes on things now as it is, it is unfortunate for those who need to go the route of surrogacy, wish there was a better option.

The parents to be should pay for it just as any other couple who are pg would have to pay for their own medical bills and food etc.
Govt Assistance is for those who need help and are struggling. Not for those who want to have a baby for someone else. The people who want the baby should have the medical bills and expenses coverage for the surrogate.
I did a surrogacy 6 years ago. As part of my contract (and this is the routine from what I understand) the intended parents are to maintain a health and life insurance policy on you throughout pregnancy.
No I dont' think that surrogate moms should be given government assistance just because they are a surrogate or that the parents to be should get assistance because they want to have a baby.
