My understanding is that you have to have at least one term pregnancy before you can be a surrogate. There are also other rules about age requirements (not a problem for you, though), health requirements, be within a certain body mass index, etc.
I think what you want to do is wonderful though. And perhaps some of those rules wouldn麓t apply if you found the couple yourself (maybe looking at ads online asking for a surrogate or placing your own ads offering a surrogacy).
In either case, I agree with the previous post that talking to an OBGYN is a good place to start.
Best of luck
You should talk to your OB about it. A friend of mine wanted to do that before she had kids and was told she that you have to have had your own offspring in order to do thatHow would I be able to become a surrogate mother? Process?
An OB is not the person to talk to. You would talk to a surrogacy agency. You can Google surrogacy agencies in your area.
Most of them want you to have had a child already. Reason being is that pregnancy is a physical and emotional journey and never having been through it before, you don't know how you'll feel about it. You're a risk for getting too attached (again, having never been through it, you can't say for sure how you'll feel when it's actually happening). Potential matches also tend to pick surrogates with proven track records of successful pregnancies.
Be aware that surrogates also go through a battery of physical and emotional testing before being accepted.
However, if you feel strong that this is your calling, the place to start is with a surrogacy agency.
Good luck.
Well, from what you written above. I'm sure you are consider to be a surrogate mother..
If you want and sure, there is something you should do first . For example, do some general check up to make sure you are healthy , then check your womb to make sure u are fertile and still have a good egg. If you want to be surrogate through agencies, you can check the hospital (choose the bigger or biggest in your country).
If you want to be a surrogate mother alone , it is quiet difficult until you can find any couple who want you become their surrogate.
This is my advice, since I'm doing my research about surrogate. If you doing alone (without agency) you should have legal agreement to protect each other.
Hope it help and i know some sites that might answers your problem.
You have posted a wonderful article. Surrogacy is a wonderful opportunity for women to share the gift of fertility with couples who are unable to achieve pregnancy on their own. There are many things to learn about surrogacy before deciding whether this is the path that's right for you. There are many valuable resources available on the internet, but I encourage you to consult an attorney who is familiar with surrogacy laws in your state, before entering into any contract.
