Is it possible to become a surrogate mother for a couple in need if you have never been pregnant before?

All of the agencies that I have found online say that a surrogate has to have had a full-term healthy birth within the last several years. Is it possible for a completely healthy and capable 25 year old woman to help couples in need without having to be a mother before she's ready? Why can't I help them too?Is it possible to become a surrogate mother for a couple in need if you have never been pregnant before?
I'm not sure but it might have to do with seeing if oyu can carry to term and have a healthy baby. Also it might have something to do with all the emotions of a first pregnancy and it not being your baby.
There are 3 main reasons that a woman who has never had a child is not a good candidate for surrogacy. First, you have never had a child, so you have not "proven" that you can actually have a child. A woman who has had at least one healthy child has proven that her uterus works, so to speak. Second, a woman who has never had a child has no idea how the emotions associated with pregnancy and childbirth will affect her. She is basically immature in this area, and therefore not a good candidate. And last, there is a chance, although slight, that something drastic could happen and she may need a hysterectomy, and therefore never be able to have a child of her own. Most surrogates who go through agencies have agreed that they are finished having children of their own, and so if a hysterectomy was necessary, it wouldn't be completely devastating.

i wanted to be a surrogate, i have had two children but was told agencies don't like using a surrogate who's not had children before, as you are more likely to want to keep the baby once its born. I have seen on breakfast tv a lady who's not got no children of her own and has had a few babies for other people, the agency she is with is called COTS. i dont think you completely understand how much you connect with a baby that is growing inside of you until you are pregnant.....this probably has something to do with it
phebee did it on friends y cant you :) but i agree with the first to answers it has a lot to do with the emotions and being able to carry a baby and all that good stuff!
