Hello. I've been a surrogate twice. To answer your question, it really depends on what type of surrogacy is involved.
There are two types of surrogacy. Traditional and Gestational.
With Traditional Surrogacy, YES, the woman who carries the child is the biological mother of the child. She is impregnated via artificial insemination (turkey baster) with the sperm of the intended father, and upon birth will sign over her legal rights to the child. The intended mother will do a step-parent adoption and adopt the baby.
With Gestational Surrogacy, which is much more common now-a-days, the surrogate mother is NOT related at all to the baby and does not share any DNA. It is blocked through the placenta. She becomes impregnated via In Vitro Fertilization with an embryo created from the sperm of the intended father and eggs of the intended mother. This completed embryo is then transfered into the womb of the surrogate who will gestate it and upon birth give the child back to his parents. She has no legal or biological rights to the child.
It depends on the situation. There are sisters who are surrogates for another sister who is infertile. Some do provide the egg and get artificially inseminated by the opposites husband. The DNA comes from the egg and the sperm. The biological parents are the ones that provided them.Who is the biological mother when a women carries a baby as a surrogate mother?
No; it is biologically impossible. A child cannot have three biological parents. The mother is whoever donated the egg, and only the DNA found in the embryo (from the sperm and the egg) will be in the child.
the biological mother is not the surrogate. she just carried the fetus. the sperm and egg come from the couple and the surrogate is implanted with their cells usually.
NO the surrogate mother does NOT share her DNA - only the DNA from the egg and sperm create the baby. the surrogate mother is simply a 'vessel' for the baby to nourish and grow until he/she is ready for the world.
surrogate mother is not the (true) biological mother as sperms and ova come from others. And the baby doesn't share DNA with the surrogate mother.
The biological mother is who ever produced the egg.The person who delivered the child was just a carrier.
the woman whose egg is used is the biological mother.surrogate mother just rents her womb.
