I was a surrogate and it's a once in a lifetime thing. Not paid yearly. My base fee was 20,000, plus they had to cover all medical expenses, pay me for any work missed, pay 170 for every doctor visit(50 for food, 50 for child care, and 70 for gas), 1200 for maternity clothes, and when I was on bed rest they had to pay me my salary, and they gave me extra 300 a month for carry out so I didn't have to cook dinner.
There was a big article on Surrogates in Newsweek earlier this year, you might check it out. Pricing varies between $10,000 and $40,000 (that is what my sister's relative was paid over and above expenses). Some states have now legislated that NO payments may be made to a surrogate mother except for medical costs alone. How much money do surrogate mothers make per year?
I'm not sure, but I don't think any money would be worth carrying a child for 9 months and then giving it to someone else!!
