LDS: What is the Church's stand on surrogate mothers doing embryo implantation? ?

So, the baby wouldn't be related to the surrogate, but to the parents receiving the baby. I've always wondered about this.LDS: What is the Church's stand on surrogate mothers doing embryo implantation? ?
rkd6 is correct.

I once asked why. The branch president of the time told me it was because there were plenty of unwanted children in the world that needed loving families. I don't know if this is doctrine or just his personal opinion.
I have never heard the church take any kind of a stand for or against this, but than again, i've never read the official bishop's handbook telling us what they think.

Personally, I would look at that as an act of mercy. If you were using the mother's egg, and the real father's sperm, and they put the 2 of them together in a dish before putting it into the surrogate mother, I look at it as an act of mercy to help provide a couple with a baby, that they would not other wise be able to have.

But, Than again, I think there might be better ways of providing yourself with kids, Like adoption, There are so many kids without good 2 parrent family's in this world, It is sad. I would think adoption would be the better way.LDS: What is the Church's stand on surrogate mothers doing embryo implantation? ?
My search does not come up with any statements. I would think it would depend on the person, the family situation., which would be decided on an individual basis. I believe it would not be acceptable because of the statement on the family, that child would not be going to the ones who "manufactured" it.
i don't know. i think it would have to be handled on a situation by situation basis. what all the other factors are... i would think though that they would first try and encourage adoption- since there are millions of children already out there looking for a family that wants children. but if the circumstances make this to their only option- i don't see it being a problem- it's another wonderful spirit brought into the world by love...:)
I don't know what the "Church's" stand is, but I really think that it is an awesome thing to do for someone who can't have children.
The official stance is that it's strongly discouraged.
