Why do women become surrogate mothers?

just curious. We can talk about housewives, carrer women, and the pitiful all day but what about surrogate women? Why be one of these..? I understand that there are women out there who cannot have children and turn to surrogate mothers but...being a surrogate mother must be a hell of a job.....

What satisfaction does a woman get out of being a surrogate mother? And do we look at these women in a negative way? What's the feminist's point of view here? Why do women become surrogate mothers?
They're healthy, they've finished having their own children, and they want to help other women experience motherhood. Works for me.
interesting question - i'm curious too. pregnancy sounds horrific to me, but i gather that some women like it. i guess money is always an incentive, if being pregnant is preferable to doing a lower-paid job which they don't enjoy. maybe some like that they are helping women who otherwise couldn't have their own biological children.

i consider myself a feminist and i certainly wouldn't look at these women in a negative way, so long as they were healthy and happy with their choice. personally i think it must be very difficult to have a child and then give it up.Why do women become surrogate mothers?
lol I wouldn't call it a "hell" of a job but it wouldn't be easy either

Some surrogate mothers do so to help others...some just do it for the money. They get paid big bucks to do such 10-15,000.

Pending how there pregnancy and labor goes it can be easy money.

Would I personally do it...no but I had one hell of a pregnancy 9 months of morning sickness and 36 hour labor.....do that for money not for love..no thank you!
I think the reason they do it is to help the other woman in a way that someone else could not. I personally do not look at them negatively, I think what they are doing is very generous of them.
some people love the attention they get when pregnant. Others love giving life and a gift to another. I suppose each women has her reason.
