Can a person still be a surrogate mother if the child is already developing?

Ok, to make a long story short, my MIL, who is 51, just found out she is pregnant, about 6-8 weeks along. She is terrified of loosing the child, and loosing her life at delivery. Has science found a way to transfer the child to another womb (like mine), for the remaining duration, like a surrogate? Can a person still be a surrogate mother if the child is already developing?
No, there is no way to transfer an embryo or fetus from one uterus to another. (If there was, there would be no need for abortion, right?)
